Festival Schedule Preview

Our full festival schedule will be announced in early August with speaker timing and talk topics. We wanted to share an overview of the start times, venues, and format for this year to help with your planning.

– Thursday, September 7 –

8:30am-9:30am: Festival Check-in and Morning Welcome Party (with coffee and breakfast snacks) at Raleigh Convention Center – Wristband City

9:30am-11:30am:  Keynote speakers in Raleigh Convention Center – Ballroom C

11:30am-1:00pm: Lunch on your own around Downtown Raleigh
We’ll be organizing a variety of facilitated lunch roundtable discussions to dive deeper into ideas and conversations. (More details to be announced)

1:00-2:45pm: Afternoon speakers giving 30-minute talks in the Moore Square area venues including Market Hall, Nash Hall, and Marbles Kids Museum

2:45pm-3:15pm: Afternoon snacks featuring local Raleigh chefs

3:15pm-5:00pm: Afternoon speakers giving 30-minute talks in the Moore Square area venues including Market Hall, Nash Hall, and Marbles Kids Museum

5:15pm-6:00pm: Closing keynote

6:00pm-7:30pm: Hopscotch Design Festival Opening Night Party (Downtown location to be announced)

We’ll be helping organize Dutch Treat dinners for any attendees who are interested in connecting with other attendees.  (More details to be announced)

– Friday, September 8 –

3:15pm-5:00pm: Afternoon speakers giving 30-minute talks in the Moore Square area venues including Market Hall, Nash Hall, and Marbles Kids Museum

5:00pm-6:00pm: Closing keynote in Raleigh Convention Center – Ballroom C

6:00pm-7:30pm: Hopscotch Design Festival Closing Party (Downtown location to be announced)

For the afternoon talks, only two of the three venues will have presenters. The third venue will alternate between presenters and being a space to connect and interact with speakers and attendees. Additionally, afternoon speakers will use part of their 30-minutes for Q&A from the audience.

Venues will have water and other light refreshments for attendees.

WordPress.com will be hosting a Design Playground in the Raleigh Convention Center throughout the Design Festival

For 2017, we’re shifting our venues to the Moore Square area of Downtown Raleigh due to heavy construction in the Warehouse District.

Raleigh Convention Center: 500 S Salisbury St, Raleigh, NC 27601

Marbles Kids Museum’s Zanzibar Hall: 201 E Hargett St, Raleigh, NC 27601

Separate from core festival programming: We’re helping organize a series of  Design Field Trips around Downtown Raleigh and the Triangle. (More details to come)
