Art Seavey is a Senior Program Officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The foundation’s vision is a world where every person has the opportunity to live a healthy, productive life. He works on a team in the United States Program focused on realizing that vision through transforming the higher education system into an engine of social mobility and economic development. His primary work involves identifying and supporting high-potential colleges and universities seeking change at an organizational scale—change that aspires to ensure equitable outcomes regardless of race, income, and gender. He leads a coordinated set of investments across 40+ institutional and support partners working in a networked approach, called the Frontier Set. In addition, he supports the visioning and creation of learning opportunities for the foundation and external partners, as well as a portfolio of work defining and growing whole new institutional models. Art joined the foundation in 2013 from the University System of Georgia. Prior, he worked in roles with a consulting firm, New Kind, and Red Hat. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgia Tech and Master of Public Policy from Duke University.
