Jo-Ann Tan

Director - +Acumen

Jo-Ann Tan is the creator and director of +Acumen, the world’s school for social innovation. +Acumen seeks to provide anyone with easy access to the cutting-edge tools, leadership skills and community needed to create effective social change. We do this primarily through our free and low-cost online courses that have reached more than 300,000 individuals in 190 countries. Beware! Your life may be altered. Our best course participants go on to launch new social start-ups and revamp their organizations; some even dramatically alter their career paths so that they can contribute in more meaningful ways. +Acumen is a core program of Acumen, a non-profit changing the way the world tackles poverty. Prior to Acumen, Jo-Ann built a marketing analytics team and developed and new marketing strategies for a $1 billion apparel distributor. Jo-Ann has also worked at strategy consulting firm Marakon Associates in New York and Singapore. She began her career at the Monetary Authority (Central Bank) of Singapore. Jo-Ann received a BA in Economics and an MS in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.
