Lee Noble is a Los Angeles-based musician and designer. He runs No Kings, a record label that focuses on avant garde and small-batch tape releases. In addition to performing at Hopscotch Music Festival on Thursday, Sept. 4 at Fletcher Opera Theater, Noble will speak at Hopscotch Design Festival about the aesthetics of combining music, art, and design, particularly as it pertains to running a boutique DIY label.
Noble's music is enticingly elusive. His approach could’ve peaked with 2011’s excellent Horrorism, but he somehow improved on it with last year’s Ruiner, in which he achieved clarity even when his music retreated gracefully from clear view.
