With an expansive repertoire of symphonic works and more than 60 operas, conductor Timothy Myers has proven himself as an intrepid young maestro with his finger on the pulse of today’s musical world. His commanding performances of the core repertoire are enhanced by his ability to fuse varied genres and styles.
Myers' recent and upcoming engagements include the Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, and the Atlanta, Portland and Toledo symphony orchestras. In the 2013-2014 season Myers conducted three major world premieres at the Houston Grand Opera, Fort Worth Opera, and Washington D.C.’s National Gallery of Art.
As the founding Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of North Carolina Opera, Myers is one of the youngest artistic leaders in American opera. His artistic vision has led the company to encompass a broad repertoire from Handel to Wagner to Glass, and fostered the creation of innovative and stimulating productions that have garnered international acclaim.
Myers’ other engagements include the New York Philharmonic, New York City Opera, London BBC Symphony, the Beijing National Center for the Performing Arts, the Jerusalem, American, North Carolina and Milwaukee symphony orchestras, the Brooklyn and Johannesburg philharmonics, and the Wolf Trap and Castleton festivals.
